So I watched the first episode of Smallville (minus the first 30 mins 'cause I didn't read the tv guide properly) and what a rip off. Sorry, but even the music reminded me of Roswell. Some of the scenes were exact copies of some scenes in Roswell.
But what the hell, I'm going to watch it next week. :lol2

Edited to add: I was told that Ch 9 (the network here that airs Smallville) chopped 1 hour off the pilot to save money! :mad

So now I'll have to watch it on the net :mad

Finally.

Yeah, it's funny you say that.. I remember when I first started watching it I thought the same exact thing. I was kind of mad. Because it was the competition. (Of course I taped it, because it aired at the same time as Roswell). Anyway, somewhere through the middle of season it grew on me and didn't remind me of a knockoff anymore. And by the end of it I was hooked. I can't wait till this year.

You'll see it's not that bad. Somehow, Superman has my utmost intrest. :rollin

Esp. with the shirt off. :thud

Can't wait to hear all your thoughts on it. Esp. when you get through the whole year. (Because my opinion changed.) :grin

yes, it is very Roswell-like at times, but that is mainly because some of the people working on it worked on Roswell too. *shrug* but, whatever, I've gotten over it. :grin

I truly hope your right. I hope I don't continue to see similarities with Roswell 'cause it will just piss me off and I won't be able to watch it at all!

The only character I like at the moment is Lex. The dark, mysterious and unpredictable character that keeps you on your toes. I don't know whether he's good or bad yet. I guess time will tell (that's if I can remain unspoiled!) :grin

It's funny you say that. I think he's one of the main characters people tend to love. And I *know* you will enjoy watching the whole season lay out with him. He gets better and better with his character depth. And no spoilers yet on him. I think we all want to know if he will be good or bad eventually. The guessing game continues.

Of course if you give it enough time, the other characters get a lot better too. For instance, in the beginning I didn't care for Whitney at all, but towards the end I was sad. (Won't go in depth here to keep you spoiler free).

Lastly, I never really was all over the Superman, but this Clark Kent took me from day one. I guess it was that awesome body hanging from the stake. :lol

I just saw the third episode 'Hot Head?' Hmmmm...still not convinced about any of the characters yet except Lex. I hope Lana and Lex get it on 'cause that would be spice up the show alot. That would be more interesting than Clark and Lana. She is way too sickly sweet for my liking! I miss Roswell so much. I can't believe the head honchos of that show let it go down the S bend so rapidly! Didn't they know what a goldmine they were sitting on? I still think Roswell will come back to the screen in some way, shape or form! :mad

K, incase any one is wondering, I brought out all the old threads I could find of Smallville since you are just now viewing them.

Um, I can't really remember that episode.

But, thinking over what you've said, it doesn't make sense. You don't like Lana because she's too sickly sweet? But what about Liz? She was too. I think if the same situation was with Liz as is with Lana that Liz was that type of character that would of stayed with Kyle out of guilt too. I find the two characters pretty identical in many ways.

Well, I watched Nicodemous (sp?) tonight, but since you haven't seen it yet (OMG!) is all I'll say :grin

I'll head over and post my thoughts on the reruns thread. :lol

I know Liz was sweet and nice too but I just don't like the whole concept of Smallville and it's similarities with Roswell.
That might be clouding my judgement of Lana. However, I did love Liz but I just can't take to Lana! I just discovered that Tom Welling is not so perfect afterall. He has a scar across his chin *phew* The marketing and publicity of Smallville here is astronomical compared to Roswell. Money truly makes the world go round. :rolleyes
