This is actually hard: I mean, I have listed mostly my fave songs above there, but that doesn't necessarily mean that those are the best songs. I don't pay that much attention to lyrics on a first listening, I go with the sound. For instance, I think that King Nothing has great lyrics, but in terms of music or vibes or whatever you want to call it I'd go with Ain't My Bitch or hero of the Day.

I actually spent half the day listening to To Live is to Die, and it's so goddamn amazing that I have no idea how I could have missed its greatness so far.

And the Call of Ktulu - well, unspoken agreement that it rocks big!

JTHM - S&M is nice but I generally like the studio versions better. I'm not so much for the combination of a classical orchestra and metal, it sounds weird. I mean, they mixed it up well in terms of performance but I don't think it mixes well in general, you know?
The only reason to really get that album is No Leaf Clover because it is soooooooo gooooood! :thumbsup

Nah, I agree. I mean, I can picture that it might have been kind of freeing to them, you know (I guess it makes you get rid of agressions pretty quickly), but I don't think it's very nice to hear (with the exception of two or three songs).

At least it gets the award for the most appropriately picked album title.

You know, I'm starting to doubt my desicion on Load.. I mean I love King Nothing, but I also love Hero of the Day..oh well..

JTHM; S&M is great. I agree with Stalker though, I love studio versions better as well. But the thing I love most are Live versions. And not live with the orchestra, but just live on tour. Pretty awesome.
But still, I love S&M as well. That was my first Metallica dvd, so I know it by heart! :grin

I think it's cool how they mixed heavy metal with classical music. They did a great job.

But still, I like it. And hey a lot of people don't. That's ok. Not everybody has to like it, but I do.
I agree, it's not their best album, but even so, I like it.
