Katherine has been cast alongside Johnny Knoxville in the forthcoming Farrelly Brothers ("There's Something About Mary") comedy "The Ringer" reports Yahoo Movies.
"This comedy is about two guys who decide to rig the Special Olympics to pay off a debt by having one of them, Steve (Knoxville), pose as a contestant in the games, hoping to dethrone reigning champion, Jimmy. Mentally-challenged high jinks and hilarity surely follow."

Directed by Barry Blaustein, and based on a script by Ricky Blitt, "The Ringer" will be shot in the Austin, Texas area from October 20th. The wrap date is expected to be December 16th. A wide release is expected during 2004 / early 2005.

"The National Special Olympics organization has signed off on the script, which apparently makes Knoxville's character the bumbler and shows the Special Olympians as the trained athletes they really are" says Austin360.com.

No budget has been announced for the film which is to be distributed under the Fox Searchlight Pictures label. The URL www.theringermovie.com redirects to the Fox website, so an official site could soon be on the way.

Fox Searchlight Pictures have announced that The Ringer, in which Katherine stars opposite Johnny Knoxville will be released in theatres on November 5th 2004.
"Desperate for cash to help a friend in need and pay off his smarmy uncle's gambling debts, Steve Barker sinks to an all time low...he attempts to fix the Special Olympics by pretending to be a person with intellectual disabilities. But he is completely out-classed by his fellow Olympians, who are not only superior athletes, they're also wiser in the ways of the world.

Katherine will portray Lynn - a beautiful Special Olympics volunteer who volunteers to work with the mentally challenged. Lynn takes Steve (Knoxville) under her wing to help him compete and naturally he falls in love with her.

Katherine is set to reprise her role as Marty Claridge in "Love's Enduring Promise", the sequel to "Love Comes Softly" the Hallmark Channel has announced.
The film is slated to premiere on in November 2004 and will reunite Katherine with Dale Midkiff who starred opposite her in the first telefilm. It will also introduce January Jones & Mackenzie Astin to the ongoing storyline about a 19th Century family whose faith and values help them forge a future together. The films are based on the novels of Janette Oke.

Meanwhile "Love Comes Softly" was honoured at the 12th Annual Movieguide Awards in a ceremony held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverley Hills, and is Hallmarks highest ever rated production.
