There's an interview with Katie Holmes in the new issue of Jane. Here are some pieces of it dealing with Katie and Josh:
...Katie told me that during one of the many takes, Josh bit her lip as a joke. "So I bit him back" she said, grinning. See, this could get interesting.

"Katie is very clean-cut," says a congested-sounding Josh Jackson, Katie's former boyfriend in real life. He's on medication for a throat infection. "The only thing that's changed over the years is maybe she's been to a bar. The wild Katie is still something any parent can be proud of." Josh and Katie dated for about eight months right when Dawson's went on the air in '98. "Before the show was even on the air, she asked me out," he says. "It was the first time I was ever tracked down by a beautiful woman. Life was good." They ended up splitting because, as Josh says, their lives were "heading in opposite directions." But Josh is still a big booster for Katie: "In the beginning, it was breathtaking to watch. She was new at acting and completely unself-conscious. I'm still continually in awe of her."

She asked him out.

JOSH & KATIE: LAURA, Josh and Katie are great friends. They joke around on set but also have a lot of respect for each other. They play off each other really well in scenes together. I remember in #317, they were really concerned about getting their "first kiss" just right -- the scene wasn't coming together as they wanted it to and Katie was getting frustrated. Josh was really sweet about talking to her and seeing what they could do to make it work - it was so important to them to have it be perfect. On the next take, it was magic! They both hugged and smiled. It was a really sweet moment between them.

But as an actor, playing this character, it was actually very exciting because these two characters have grown together and have been dating for nine months and have been talking about it exploring those fears. And I'm very proud of the show, because I think we've handled it very responsibly, talking about prevention [of STDs] and condoms and, like I said, the fears."

I like how she's trying to convince us that nothing is going on. Why did she say that he bites her in the first place if she is trying not to make a big deal about their offscreen and onscreen personas.

This is from the Te of Pacey. It's his birthday. She adlibbed it to Pacey when she is holding the cake and he comes in the door.

It was Pacey's eighteenth birthday from the fourth season. It was the one with his whole family. His father was mean and kept making comments about him and Joey stood up for him. Pacey got mad and left where Joey went with Dawson to find him. They couldn't so they came back and Joey was holding the cake in her hands when Pacey came in the door and saw her. Originally, it was suppose to be his mother.

I wasnt sure where to put this, I guess this is the right place. I had the chance to watch a deleted scene from the episode "Appetite for Destruction", it involves Joey and Pacey chatting while chopping tomatoes. They are discussing whether or not she has the right to be upset at Dawson for sleeping with Jen. They kept talking and Pacey says somehting like: "You know better than anyone what its like to wake up in the morning and see someone in a different light". They called each other JO and Pace ,and Pacey said"You dont get to tell me how much I should care about you" I guess they cut it because what was probably meant to be a discussion about Joey and Dawsons relationship turned out to be a scene that aknowledged the Joey/Pacey relationship with a lot of chemistry between the actors.THOSE BASTARDS.BURN IN HELL DC!

Just wanted to let you know about the secret scene they cut out and how other people notice the sparks.

Joey cries on her dock. Pacey appears in Dawson's boat and tells her he got in and it took him to her dock of its own volition. Because it's Dawson's boat. And Dawson likes her so much that even the boat knows. Geddit? She tries to warn him off with threats of murder, which he ignores, hopping up beside her. She pauses a moment, and then says, "He told you what happened, didn't he?" Pacey doesn't answer until she repeats the question, at which point he mutters, "Well, what do you think?" Okay, in those two lines of dialogue, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson had more chemistry than she and the Beek have ever had, and I am not joking. Anyway, Joey says she thinks she hates them both. Pacey says he's really going to hate him when he tells her what he has to say -- that Dawson was right, and that the two of them need to be apart right now. Joey asks how Pacey would know what she needs. Pacey chuckles ruefully like the man of the world that he is…not, and says words to the effect of, she's right, how would he know how hard it is to have to give up someone you love, only he says it in nine different ways and talks for about twenty minutes, like, yeah, you had to do that with Andie, it's parallel, WE GET IT. She cries some more and says, "Of all the people to see me like this, it had to be you." Pacey says that, it's a new year, and they might even become friends. She pouts, "I'm upset enough as it is." He puts her arm around her. She continues to cry. That was actually a nice scene.

The Cutest Scene Of This Entire Season. Joey, wearing The Low-Cut Pants Of Doom, ambles toward Pacey's new boat (I'm calling it the True Love Two: Electric Boat-a-loo). On board, Pacey's fiddling with some nautical paraphernalia, sporting a red shirt and a vaguely better haircut. The Piano Music Of On-Screen Chemistry twinkles in the background as Pacey takes a swig from his root beer. Joey, unnoticed, watches him look up at the sky. "Can't see them very well, can you?" she asks. He looks over at her and smiles, startled. "At night, in the city," she continues. "What, the stars?" Pacey asks. "No, you can't see them very well, but what the hell? I've seen them all before, right?" Joey smiles up at him. "Me, too," she says. Pacey comes over and helps her onto the boat. They stare at each other, and Pacey mumbles something about "Lindley" selling him out. Joey tells him that she saw him herself, at the restaurant, but, when confronted, Jen "unraveled like a cheap suit." Pacey hypothesizes that Jen's shame over betraying him explains her absence of late, but Joey explains that Jen has "met a boy." The look at each other, all cute and awkward. "Good for her," Pacey says. More staring. "So I guess, um, [Jen] told you about these Sunday dinners we've been having," Joey offers. Pacey shifts. "Um, yeah. I seem to remember something to that effect." Joey tells him that the dinners are nice, "because it's easy to get lost in the big city." Pacey agrees. "You don't have the stars to guide you," he points out. Joey tells him he ought to come to one of the dinners, sometime, and Pacey drops his voice and tells her that he'll "try and do that." Joey fiddles with her sleeves and hems and haws and finally tells him that she would hate if he skipped the dinners because of "anything to do with [her]." Pacey looks at her quizzically. "Or this thing we shared, called 'a romance,'" Joey offers, half-smiling. "You know. It ended really badly? And there was bitterness? And tears? And recriminations?" Pacey smiles at her. "Yeah, I think I remember that," he says. "We dated once, right?" Joey screws up her face in mock consternation. "Yeah, we did, didn't we? But, you know, I've practically forgotten, now that I've slept with half the football team." Pacey grins, and helps her over toward the wheel of the boat. "Just half?" he asks. "I think that shows incredible restraint on your part." Joey tells him that she had to save the other half for her roommate. Pacey sits down, after sticking his butt in the camera for a nice, long shot, and asks about Audrey. They get to talking, comfortably, complete with banter about small spaces and snoring. Joey, sitting by the wheel, tells him that she read something for class recently about how, soon, humans may be able to regrow brain cells. "I think what it means is some point in the not so distant future, it may be possible to forget all the bad stuff and just remember the good," she offers, shyly. Pacey tells her he thinks that's already possible. They smile at each other, and Joey tells him that she wants to know all about the boat. "This is one mother of a boat," she says, grinning at him. Aww. Joey and Pacey 4EVA! Wow, I have no idea where that came from. It's just refreshing to see actors who appear to be having some small measure of fun with each other, instead of looking like they're about two seconds away from throwing themselves in front of a truck wearing a "Teen Suicide" t-shirt.

The Kids Are Alright

Later, Joey and Pacey meet at the jukebox. She complains that it hasn't played her song yet. "Maybe the jukebox rejected it," Pacey says, "on the grounds that there's been enough whiny chick rock for one night, I think, pretty much." Personally, I simply don't believe that jukeboxes ought to contain any variation on whiny ovary music whatsoever. The jukebox is the sole domain of oldies, classic rock and Bon Jovi and that's really about it. Joey pouts. "Bite me," she whines. Pacey leans over and nips her upper arm. "Pacey, gross!" Joey squeals. He chuckles. Aw, that was a cute, if fifth-gradey, moment. Joey demands an explanation of the day's earlier dorm room shenanigans. "Do you remember our particular summer together?" he asks. Wow, I can't believe the writers remember their particular summer together. Joey indicates that she does. "Remember when we came back, we were all lovely-dovey and we didn't really want the summer to end, as such?" he asks. Joey grins. "Speak for yourself," she retorts. "But I do recall something to that effect." Pacey smiles down at her. "Let's say for the sake of argument that I am not at all unhappy that this summer is ending," he admits. Long story short: Hollywood Audrey is a little exhausting. Joey listens to this quietly, then tells Pacey that she has a bit of a conflict of interest. The part of her that is his good friend and "erstwhile paramour" thinks that "life's too short" and he needs to do what makes him happy. "Erstwhile Paramour" is the name of my Morrisey cover band. On the other hand, she says, the part of her that is Audrey's friend and roommate says, "you know what? You breaka her heart, I breaka your face." Joey pokes him in the chest. "You got it?" she asks. Pacey grimaces and rubs his left pec. He gets it. Joey grabs his hand and drags him into the corner to make out. Er, I mean, "back to the table."

Just wanted to let you know that there are still sane reviewers out there who see the Pacey and Joey sparks.

Remember when Katie picked her favorite moment on the show when Pacey gave Joey the wall. I found out what Josh's favorite moment was.

I can't believe he actually said going away on the boat with Joey was his favorite moment. It was like the one of the most romantic moments on the show.

I know Katie picked her favorite moment when Pacey gave Joey the wall. It was more of a friendship moment, but also in True Love, Joey says that she knows she's in love with Pacey and says that maybe she knew before that. The wall was the episode before Cinderella Story. It could kind of be considered that she was falling in love with him then.

In the first VSBI chat in February 2001, when asked about his favorite DC moment Josh said this:

My fondest memory was an episode last season with the director James Whitmore. It's very rare when I find myself becoming an audience and you lose your place when you are so enraptured of what the other person is doing and you become [an]audience member. The other person was Katie.

During the chat, I checked my list of episodes and saw that James Whitmore had directed Escape from Witch Island and Four to Tango in season three. Knowing there wasn't much P/J in EfWI, I asked him if it was FtT and he said "no." I was puzzled until after the chat I discovered that Whitmore had also directed True Love. My guess is that in the chat at least, he meant the dock scene at the end of the TL.

How sweet is this. I remember that scene and how blissfully happy they looked together.

I know I sound like a freak, but what am I suppose to think when he says something like this or when she adlibs "I love you."

Why don't they just come out of denial already? Just kidding. I found a few pictures of them filming offscreen.

The first is from the second season finale when Pacey rescues Joey from the fire. Let's just say he got a little too friendly.
