Actually, that picture from the second season was the last episode. They weren't dating, but I did see a caption that said "Dawson's Couple" under it at Katie Holmes Pictures under E! The person who saw them must have thinked they looked pretty cosy. Katie was definitely enuoying that. It is written all over her face. I just found another picture.

Image

Look where Josh's hand is. It looks like a photo shoot from season 3.

Josh and Katie sighting
True TWoP Story: I Was An Extra
By Lasuanne
Hey! Speaking of the cast, there was Joshua Jackson! Hee! He was standing over by an elevator, and oh, wait, who's that he's with? Why, it's Katie Holmes, wearing a truly kick-ass red coat. They were standing by an elevator, and then walked off further down the concourse where they were filming. Bye!

This was during the filming of the No Doubt Concert. It's nice to hear considering the writers won't let their characters talk to each other anymore. Just wanted to share.

The scene I was in they were deciding if they were even a couple, and if they should hold hands. He was like doing weird things to Katie. Her mic. broke so Josh tried to fix, which clearly he had no clue what he was doing. So basicly he was just going up her skirt. Then she unbuttoned part of her shirt to fix her other mic, and Josh yelled so loud KATIE STOP PLAYING WITH YOURSELF. All 75 of the extras were laughing at her, until Josh came over and was looking down her shirt. It said something about her being in a bad mood and Josh had to make her feel better. Just a fan encounter I found from season 4 over at Pacey and Joey's Lovers Shrine. I am guessing they were taping "Falling Down."

It is under Katie Holmes videos section.

This is a website where I found the Katie Holmes appearance on Letterman where she lost her virginity to Pacey. The interview was better than I remembered. Dave was totally referring to Josh and Katie when he asked about if your portrayal is anything like you experienced in real life. She was so embarrassed. It is so good. Katie said that the scene was portrayed romantic and tenderly, even though the smoke was bothering them.

Letterman asks if she got naked. She said there is no nudity on television. Then, Letterman said he was talking about pre-production which was when they were filming. He was asking or implying if her and Josh were screwing each other off camera. Letterman was so crass. I liked how Katie said that the scene with Josh was romantic, unlike with JVDB where she said he kisses like her brother. I was still shocked she said that. She told Letterman that she hoped she gave a realistic portrayal. You know they taped the scenes on her birthday two years a go. . She could have said the scenes were done well. Tell me what you think?

I just read one of the most ridiculous things ever. Someone thinks something is going on with Oliver and Katie. No offense, but I do not see the great chemistry that these people see. There is no passion when they kiss. The only guy I have ever seen her have passion with on the show is Josh. The only one she adlibs for and the only one she picked her favorite moment on the show with. She even got him more screentime at the beginning on season 5.

Did you see the video? I found the transcript and I will bring it over.

Here's the Letterman transcript
The Late Show with David Letterman
Interview with Katie on February 7, 2001
transcribed by Tara for Katie-Holmes.com

This was just the most funniest interviews I've seen. I didn't really mention much about the facial expressions or hand gestures. I figure video caps will take care of that.

David: Our next guest stars on the very popular television series Dawson's Creek and in a new film entitled The Gift currently in theaters. Here's the lovely Katie Holmes.

David: Well, you look terrific.

Katie: Thank you.

David: You just look great. You're like all grown up and stuff.

Katie: Well, I have to tell you a story.

David: Yeah. A story.

Katie: Well, the last time I was on I had this little yellow dress on and you called me little lemon sorbet.

David: Really? I called you little lemon sorbet?

Katie: Yeah!

David: Was I drunk? What was I…

Katie: I thought it was endearing and sweet…but, um, when I went back to Wilmington I went to my dressing room and they had replaced my name with "Our Little Lemon Sorbet."

David: Well, isn't that cute? That's very lovely.

Katie: And so it kind of set me apart. So I was wondering what I am tonight?

David: Well, you are an elegant young woman. An elegant young woman…yes. Katie open her mouth: Ha! I am?

David: Yes, lovely.

Katie: That's the best. Thanks.

David: The epitome of sophisticated womanhood. Don't you think Paul? Paul: (imitating Marv Albert) Absolutely. YES!

Katie: Wow! I'm getting nervous.

David: Now, now…do you mind if I ask you a personal question? The first time you and I met on the show…what was it three/four years ago…how old were you then?

Katie: Uh, 19. She nods her head.

David: You were 19 then. So you're a like early twenties now. Laughter erupts from the crowd and Katie begins to laugh.

David: You…you couldn't look lovelier for heaven's sakes.

Katie: Well thank you. You look very nice yourself.

David: Aw, come on forget it. Uh, should we talk about the big show tonight?

Katie: Ok.

David: Tell the people what happened tonight on The Creek. Do we call it The Creek? Or is it…

Katie: The Creek is fine.

David: We call it DC? What do we call it?

Katie: Yeah, DC is good. Yeah, it's fine. Uh, tonight is a very big episode. Joey and Pacey take their relationship to the next step.

David: And what does that mean? Dairy Queen? Katie laughs and puts her head in her left hand.

Katie: No that would be my world!

David: Oh.

Katie: No they…(she says quietly)…they have sex.

David: Wow! Oh well! (David puts both his hands up in the air.) Now, uh, uh, and…and… for your character…

Katie: (nods her head) They would be their first time.

David: Holy Cow! (He rubs his forehead with his hand).

Katie: Yeah.

David: And, and can you do that on television? Can you see…

Katie: Well, you can't see it. But it leads up…

David: How could they suggest….well, what do we see on the show? What happens?

Katie: There's a beautiful fire, and you know, we're in a cabin, and I take off his shirt.

David: Yeah.

Katie: Well, I thought I would do that for all the little girls watching. David laughs.

Katie: And it was kinda funny, cause that day we were shooting on the stage. And it's supposed to be very romantic so the DP put, um, this fog in the air. And all of a sudden after a couple of takes, Josh and I are like coughing. So there's stuff in our lungs and we're saying you know, "I love you, I wanna do this…" (she motions and makes a clearing the throat coughing noise)…excuse me…you know…so that was kind a…

David: Like chest cold, I'm sorry.

Katie: Yeah.

David: I have a hacking cough but…

Katie: Yeah. And, uh, thanks for the Chinese at lunch…that really helped too.

David: So at anytime during the production of this pivotal episode. This watermark episode, this landmark episode…

Katie: Yes…

David: …was there nudity at anytime…total nudity? (Katie looks at him shocked) Were you naked at anytime on the set? Katie turns her head and looks at Paul and laughs.

Katie: Dave…this is a teen show!

David: I know it's a teen show, but in the production…I know we don't see nudity on the show, but was it like you come out…and you have uh…you and Kenny…

Katie: Kenny. (Katie starts laughing again and nods her head.)

David: You each have a bath-robe on or something? Is that what this was or not?

Katie: No. No, No. Not at all.

David: Are you undressed to any degree whatsoever?

Katie: (she laughs) No. I'm fully dressed.

David: Fully dressed. Right. And the scene is handled tenderly and with great feeling…?

Katie: It's very romantic.

David: How...how did your family feel about this when you told them "Oh, guess what's happening tonight Mom and Dad…"?

Katie: Well...they're struggling, but um, when I went home for…we shot that right before Christmas…so I went home, and I was hanging out at my sister Holly's house and her husband's right there and we were just watching TV…and I go, "Oh, I forgot to tell you I lost my virginity on my birthday" cause we filmed it on my birthday. And all of a sudden my sister's like (she makes it look like she's bracing herself)…you know, and her husband, whom I've know since I was about ten was just like 'so this is a girl moment (she acts out how they would look) and why did she just bring this up?' and…I was like why are they…? (she makes the face like it just dawns on her)…on the show. With Pacey! And they were like 'Oh, God, Thanks. Don't tell mom and dad.' You know…

David: (David stutters something and tries to say it and he motions with his hands.) Katie brings both her hands to cover her mouth.

David: You know what I mean Paul? Paul: Course I know. Boy do I know what you mean.

David: But I can't….and it just seems like the obvious thing, but I can't even…so never mind.

Katie: What?

David: Just never mind. Just never mind. Let's talk about other things.

Katie: Ok. Are you getting uncomfortable?

David: No, no, no, no. I'm really getting interested. Katie's mouth goes wide and she turns her head and then covers her mouth with her hand. The crowd is erupting.

Katie: My mom's here. (she points to the floor)

David: Is your mom here today.

Katie: Yes.

David: Oh, then…oh…ok. But I just wondered, in the world of speculation, now, hypothetically speaking, um…a character on a television show portraying that tender loving scene and I'm thinking to myself 'Gosh I wonder if it was like anything like…what life was like for that character in the real world?' If it was…not even you…if there was another character here who had gone through that. You know what I'm saying?

Katie: (she laughs) Well, I hope so. I hope I gave a realistic portrayal.

David: Right. Right. I'll bet.

Katie: (she spreads her arms) I don't know. I don't know. Well, you can be the judge.

David: Yeah. Well, not entirely I guess. Katie laughs and brings her hands to her face.

Katie: No. No, I didn't…. She shakes her head.

Katie: (pointing a finger to David) You always do this to me.

David: From you lips to God's ears…

Katie: Ohhhhhh….Well you can film in Toledo, Ohio.

David: Well, yeah, you know. It just sets…I start wondering and I'll just let it go at that. Cause what you do in your real life is none of my business. Honestly. And frankly I don't wanna know…I don't wanna know…I have a pretty good idea, but I don't want to know.

Katie: I think you're presuming.

David: Well, maybe I am and maybe I'm not…but again…live and let live.

Katie: Okay.

David: Uh, well, it's great to have you with us again.

Katie: Thank you.

David: And congratulations on the show. You just get lovelier every time I see you.

Katie: As do you.

David: Well, thank you very much.

Katie: Thank you very much. They shake hands.

David: Katie Holmes, ladies and gentlemen. She waves to the crowd.

Will there be more kissing with Katie Holmes?
JJ: There can never possibly be enough kissing with Katie Holmes! -- bigstar.com

from KIISFMi.com

He Who Gets Joey, Wins!
By Alana Ballard

Is James Van Der Beek getting a little jealous of Joshua Jackson? Sources close to the set of "Dawson's Creek" say, that Van Der Beek simply can't stand the fact that viewers are starting to like the relationship between Pacey (Jackson) and Joey (played by Katie Holmes). Van Der Beek hasallegedly demanded that the producers reunite his character, Dawson, with Joey. It seems that the "Varsity Blues" star is a little peeved that he's notgetting as much attention in the storylines. Better not push those producerstoo hard James, or you might find your CAREER up a creek!

from E!Online:

"Josh Jackson isn't cowering just because James Van Der Beek is throwing another fit-fest. Everyone knows J.V.D.B. simply can't bear that viewers have taken to J.J.'s precious Pacey. That's why the many-monikered lad is demanding the doltish Dawson reunite with gal-pal Joey. At the same time, J.J.'s standing up for his career by pushing for his Dawson's character to win the Katie Holmes character. Katie's supercute, but that's not the reason. Don't you see? Whoever wins the lass gets the super-airtime.

HIT--A night of surprises on Dawson's

The final moment of the May 24 season finale of Dawson's Creek wasn't a cliff-hanger, but it surely still left viewers wondering. And hoping, for the WB to launch another summer series: Joey and Pacey--Summer 2000.
Joey's unexpected (at least for this viewer) choice of earnest nice-guy Pacey over the often pretentious, full-of-himself (not to mention series star) Dawson was refreshing, not just for the choice itself but for the way it was handled. If soaps are truly supposed to be our fantasy, this episode of Dawson's fit the bill perfectly: Joey simply threw caution (and her family responsibilities) to the wind to follow her heart and sail off into the sunset (quite literally) with the person she loves. Does it get any better than that?
Continuing the episode's carpe diem theme, other stories were also right-on. Though the Mitch/Gale wedding wasn't a large part of the action, it was a nice capper on a reunion that wasn't unrealistic nor rushed.

Who would have guessed Grams had such an impulsive side to her? Loved watching her wheel the car around so Jen could have a last chance to see Henry. The out-of-the-blue development was both humorous and believable, and Jen and Henry's goodbye put a strong exclamation point on a relationship that was quite uncertain in its first year.

And, finally, the kiss, between Jack and Ethan. Frankly, I was surprised that the show (or, more accurately, the network) didn't chicken out or give the moment short shrift. Instead, it happened exactly the way it should have: not a huge, dramatic deal, but not a moment that was glossed over or rushed, either. And the development resulted in Jack's father being more compassionate and understanding of his son than ever, another unexpected treat in an hour that was a perfect finish to the year.

I just love how she said the scene was romantic. She could have said it was well done, but she chose "romantic." I know it probably means nothing, but it makes me giddy. Didn't you think Letterman was implying that Josh and Katie were doing it off camera? I'm not saying it is true, just can't believe he practically asked that. Like, when he said Kenny.

I also tend to give more credit to KH and JJ (and their natural chemistry together) than the DC writers for the popularity of P/J -- after all, the writers are the same people who give us the words that come out of Dawson's mouth each week. It's all in the delivery of these scripted lines, and JJ and KH knew how to deliver.

This has reminded me about the rumors that were out there regarding the actors' problems with certain scripts/stories. Didn't KH reportedly have issues with "Promicide" that led to some re-writes, and that she was also one of the people who had a problem with what was originally going to happen this season (before those big rewrites)? And, weren't there some spoilers around that both those original stories might involve possible D/J sex - "comfort sex" with Dawson after Pacey dumped her at the prom, then supposed "casual sex" with Dawson in one of the first episodes when he came to visit her at school? It's kind of amusing -- I'm thinking now that both times she might have just wanted to put the kibosh on a sex scene with the Beek!

Originally, Joey was suppose to sleep with Dawson at the beginning of season 5.

It's so obvious who Katie would rather be with. Her love scenes with JVDB were horrible. There is no comparison with the JJ ones. Even she implied that she enjoyed the love scenes with JJ on Letterman.

Here's something I found.

Something Wild
By Jessica | Season 5 | Episode 11 | Aired on 2002.01.16
Bar. Audrey is hustling Pacey at pool with a gigantic audience of horny dudes looking at her ass. "You rack 'em, I'll crack 'em, baby," she says, as she clears the table. Pacey looks amused, and asks Joey if she'd like to take Audrey in the next round. "I'll let you endure that indignity," she retorts. As Audrey…um, does something else somewhere, Joey and Pacey chat a bit about her grades, and how she's an obsessive freak and there's no hope for her whatsoever. Pacey grins and reminds her that she knows how to loosen up. She just needs to do it more often. Joey grins in return. Man, their faces are really, really close to each other. Like, kissable-close. She wonders which part of her contains that whole loosened-up bit. Because she'd like to locate it. Pacey looks down at her. "Other Joey," he explains. That's such a shout-out. Although, technically? It's Old Joey. Maybe Old Joey and Other Joey are different Joeys. Maybe one of them works for -- wow, I almost launched into an X-Files-ian explanation of how there could be both an Old Joey AND an Other Joey. Never mind. Pacey explains that Other Joey ran away for a summer on a sailboat. And sang in a beauty pageant. And had sex with him. (He doesn't add that last part, though). "Other Joey?" she asks, grinning. The other one knows better than to let things that are completely out of her control bother her, Pacey explains. "Like Dawson and Jen," Joey says. Pacey puts his hand on her shoulder and smiles. But Audrey interrupts this 'Shipper Moment with some blather about the similarity between her eyeshadow and the chalk for the pool cue. Joey grins and excuses herself to hit the bar. She tells Pacey that she's "going to keep an eye out for that other girl." Pacey takes a C-note out of his pocket and tells her to "buy [Other Joey] a drink. On [him]." Joey stares at the bill, impressed, and wonders where he got the cash. "I work for a living," Pacey grins.

That was one of my favorite scenes of season 5.

I wish I could find the picture, but I can't.

Wanda's crap...

The Good News: The rectangle only has a shelf life of one episode. Rumor has it that Joey was supposed to do the deed with Charlie (Chad Michael Murray), but Katie Holmes protested, and the scene was axed. (My generous offer to fill in for her was sadly declined.)

This was last season's stuff. Joey was originally suppose to sleep with Charlie in 512. She didn't want to do it, so they had them do it later in the season. She really wasn't happy about it. They kind of left their sleeping together ambiguous. I never hear her complain about anything have to do with JJ. I wonder why? LOL

As far as the impact JJ and KH had on the popularity of P/J, well let's go to the videotape. Their comfortableness working with one another enabled them to raise considerably the level of the material they were given. There were some lovely stories in season three and even in season four, but in the hands of other actors they might never have sparked the way they did with Josh and Katie. Sparks can't be forced and they can't be hidden and that's why the P/J story remains so powerful despite repeated efforts to make it go away.

DirtyOldLady - I'm totally agreeing with you on the whole J/K chemistry thing... I was watching #402 last night (forgot the name - the one where Pace finds out he's failing) and it occurred to me that the last scene was done too perfectly to be just acting. If you watch it soon, notice how after P/J kiss, J has her hand on his neck and kinda "pets" him a little before they get up. You KNOW the director didn't say "Katie, place your hand on his neck, etc." It's just so natural between those two. And in #401, how they fit so perfectly together while they are talking at the end on the boat - that kinda shit doesn't just happen. Try to picture D/J doing that same scene... IT WOULD SO NOT HAPPEN!

Why in the hell did they make it so angsty and protracted and sweet if they created a monster they didn't intend?

Again just my opinion, the chemistry between Josh & Katie kept their story alive, other than the nookie the whole season was dedicated to keeping the P/J relationship static & pay homage the writers god which is Dawson.

I often wonder if the chemistry between katie and Josh actually made the story into something it wasn't suppossed to be.

Perhaps the writers never intended to let p/j be such a powerful story, but the chemistry between the two actors transcended the horible writing. I don't know...

It all comes down to chemistry. Like Rosebud said, K/JVDB just have none. On the other hand K/JJ are oozing with chemistry. When I watch K/JVDB I can tell that they are acting, they look like are just sticking to the script. With K/JJ I get lost in their acting when they are together. How many times were there little things that they did that were ad-libbed? How many times did it look like they were not acting?

TPTB have done nothing or gave us nothing to really love about P/J in season four. Yet we all still love them. The message in that fact is loud and clear to me. I think it is to TPTB also but they just choose to ignore it.

You know, as nauseating as the so-called @#%$ premise is, I could buy into it, I really could, if the show had been better cast. It's been done a million times before, and it's been done a million times better, but that's not to say it was doomed to failure from the moment it was decided that that's what Dawson's Creek was about. That happened the moment that James Van Der Beek and Katie Holmes were woefully miscast in the roles of the meant to be together forever lovers. Katie Holmes seems to be a fairly accomplished actress, and Van Der Beek holds his own well enough. And if it weren't for the fact that the entire show revolved around their supposed pre-ordained attraction, they would be perfectly cast in their individual roles as Dawson and Joey. But together they don't have the chemistry required to pull it off. It just ain't there. And it's really not their fault. The fact that Katie Holmes has so much chemistry with Joshua Jackson that they practically burn up the screen in every scene they share, isn't their fault either. It's just bad casting. When the entire premise of a show is that two people are meant to be, it's the job of a skilful producer to ensure, above all else, that the two actors cast in those roles have the chemistry to pull it off. That didn't happen here, and the production team for this show should be humble enough to admit it, and just change direction. Either scrap the @#%$ premise entirely (who cares anyway?), or bring in a new @#%$ for Dawson, played by an actor with whom Van Der Beek has genuine chemistry. Oh yes, and it wouldn't hurt to acknowledge the most glaringly obvious truth -- that the chemistry between Jackson and Holmes is the one exceptional thing about the show.

This season KH and JJ were given crap to work with, but the simple fact that they work so well together onscreen kept their fans glued to the TV. They can tell me DJ are magical, or @#%$ etc. But it doesn't work, it doesn't come through onscreen.

Really though, how many scenes did it seem like you were eavesdropping on their conversation? The Hopeless talk, Sex Day, their prom fight and talk afterwards, Sep. Anxiety. The way these two interact together ... it gets to me.
