60 min.
Joey (Katie Holmes) learns that urban life can be decidedly different---and more dangerous--- than life in Capeside.
The feisty freshman decides to pay a nighttime visit to Prof. Wilder, so she stops at an ATM to get money for the train, unaware that she's being watched. As she heads for the train station, she's approached by a stranger (Samuel Ball), who asks if she can spare some cash. Joey refuses and the man goes away. But he soon returns and he's no longer asking for a handout: He's demanding her cash and belongings. The situation ends up taking an unexpected turn, one that could radically change Joey's perspective on life. Dawson: James Van Der Beek.

Joey will be in every minute of this show.
ShumbaDog at PN reports that Joey is the only one of the 5 main characters to appear in this episode. (The official description does list JVDB as an "also starribg" though)
Joey gets mugged, but kindly takes her attacker to hospital after he is hit by a car.
Joey gets treated for shock while in the hospital.
The muggers name is Sully.
Joey finds a little girl (Sammy) in the hall who turns out to be Sully's daughter. When Sully's wife tries to leave with the daughter(after finding out what he did to Joey), Joey stops her and whines I was that little girl about letting the little girl say goodbye to her father.

(G = Sully's wife)
J: Aren't you gonna stay and see how he is?
G: Why the hell would I?
J: (gestures to Sammy) At least for her.
G: She's better off without him. I'm sorry about what happened tonight, but there's nothing I can do to change it.
J: It may not be my business to say something, but I have to. (beat) I was that little girl. She doesn't think her father is a loser. She thinks he's about the greatest thing in the world. And if you walk out of here right now and things don't go right in there for him, she'll never get the chance...
G: Never get the chance to what?
J: To say good-bye to him.
G: You're right about something Joey, it's none of your business.
(G spins around and J watches her walk down the hall.)
